It’s October 1st and although we are currently sweltering here in N. California, I’m still trying to get into the Fall season. Maybe you’ve already started with pumpkin spice everything. I know we’ve definitely been watching football and anytime Mother Nature wants to turn down the temps cannot happen fast enough!
I’ve gradually brought out the Fall decor and put together this mood board to hopefully inspire you with some ways to get those Fall vibes, even though the last thing I want to do is snuggle under a cozy throw blanket. So whata you say we fake it til the temps drop at least to below 80?
Here are some tips you can use that aren’t adding throw blankets on all the chairs:
Glass pumpkins are everywhere this year. Mix in one or two with a wood tray or bowl. Adding some metals like brass, copper or bronze gives warmth and richness, perfect for transitioning into fall.
Opt for warm-toned, soft lighting to set a cozy mood. Swap out some of your regular light bulbs with Edison bulbs. Candles and string lights can create that autumnal glow, making your home feel intimate.
Layering rugs adds visual warmth and texture. Use a larger, neutral base rug with a smaller, patterned one on top. Look for rich textures like jute to create that Fall vibe.
There are sooo many cool pumpkin varieties out there. Every year there are more and more colors and textures. And if you’re not into orange and reds, there are lots of greens, cream and white pumpkins to choose from. Gourds, wheat, wreaths and branches are another way to add seasonal decor with natural materials. Faux flowers and garland have come a long way and there are some really good ones out there that look great on a mantel. Add in some autumn scented candles and you are ready for the “ber months.
Adding these easy fall updates will take you through the next couple of months and of course when it really feels like fall, layer on those chunky throw blankets and pillow covers to add even more texture and cozy vibes!
