Memorial Day weekend is in the rearview mirror and we all know what that means right? Summer has officially begun. Woot!
When it comes to decorating your home for summer, you want to create a bright, airy, and refreshing feelin your space. Read on for some tips and ideas to help you achieve a summer-inspired look but as always, shop your own home first and use these suggestions only if they speak to your home and style.
You know I’m a huge fan of swapping out pillow covers for the Seasons and that is exactly the first thing I do. Whether you lighten up your color palette, or add in some stripes, patterns or color, this is an easy, inexpensive way to up your Summer vibe. Stripes are a classic Summer pattern that will never go out of style.

Time to put away the heavy fabrics and opt for lighter sheers. Whenever possible, open the curtains and blinds to let that sunshine inside as in this light, airy room below. Even if you close the blinds against hot sunny afternoons, let that morning light in!
Embrace natural textures and materials like rattan, wicker, jute, and linen. Incorporate these elements in furniture pieces, such as chairs, coffee tables, or lampshades, to infuse a beachy, organic vibe into your space as in this kitchen below with the barstool fabric, the pendants and woven shades.

Create a coastal or beach-inspired theme by using elements like seashells, driftwood, or maritime prints in your decor. We go camping at the beach every year and I have a collection of shells, sea glass and driftwood that I put out in bowls or on a tray. Decorating with things that bring back memories is the best kind of decorating!
Extend your summer design to your outdoor areas. Spruce up your patio, deck, or balcony with comfortable seating, outdoor rugs, and vibrant planters. Create an inviting outdoor oasis where you can relax and enjoy the summer weather. Morning coffee or an evening glass of wine on the patio is one of our favorite things.
One last idea that I am definitely doing is to display Wall Art of family and friends from Summers past. This makes such a personal statement and gets those memories out of your phone and someplace you can see them. Whether you update a gallery wall or display picture frames on a console table, these will make you smile each time you walk through the room. And that’s the whole point!
